Academic Support Resources

Navigating and acclimating to the GW academic curriculum can be an adjustment for any student.  If ever a student is in need of academic support, they are strongly encouraged to utilize the following resources:

Academic Resources

  • Academic Commons is a one-stop shop for academic resources and services across the university such as peer tutoring, workshops, research assistance, etc. 
  • Research Librarians are a wonderful source of help to provide guidance about possible sources and ways to investigate these topics.  Encourage your student to meet with a librarian in person to ask for assistance. 
  • The Writing Center works with students to strengthen their abilities as writers and to become stronger editors of their own work.
  • Academic Advisors are an excellent source of information on academic regulations and requirements, career exploration, graduate school, life after college, and letters of reference.  Advisors are also available to speak can also speak with students  

The Language Center
The Language Center provides tutoring for any language taught at GW on a walk-in basis.  Language tutors can be found by clicking here.  

GW Libraries
At GW, your student will be actively engaged in research starting their first year.  GW Libraries are a key partner in student success, providing the resources and services that students need to excel as scholars and to prepare for intellectually and professionally rewarding lives.  But more than just places to do research, the Libraries are also places to learn, explore, and connect with other students and faculty.  Click here to view some of the services, resources, and activities that your student can take advantage of, starting in his or her first year.

The Center for Undergraduate Fellowships & Research provides GW undergraduates and alumni with information, guidance and support as they learn about and apply for research opportunities and national fellowship competitions.
