Family Orientation Schedule

Mount Vernon Campus:

Welcome to the Mount Vernon Campus!   Join us from 12pm – 2pm on the quad for ice cream and cookies, and from 1:00pm – 1:30pm in Ames Hall Room B101 to hear from university leadership, meet Mount Vernon staff, and learn about our community.  

Foggy Bottom Campus:

**Sessions, family panels, and the campus services fair are open to both Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon Campus families.

Welcome to the GW community!  Our orientation sessions this afternoon are designed to complement the information available through the Family First Class portal.  Informational sessions, family Q&A panels, and the campus services fair do take place simultaneously, so feel free to move between events as you please!

Join us with a welcome from university leadership in Lisner Auditorium from 2pm – 2:30pm.                                                      

Informational Sessions:

2:45pm – 3:30pm             Career Services (Lisner Auditorium)            

Hear an overview of the services and resources provided by the Center for Career Services and opportunities available within your student’s first year.

3:45pm – 4:30pm             Safety and Security (Lisner Auditorium)         

The GW Police Department, Title IX, and Safety & Security teams work to keep our campus safe – learn about resources for your student and how Colonials can look out for one another.

3:45pm – 4:30pm             Health and Wellness (Marvin Center Betts Theatre)   
                                            Learn about the different medical, mental health, and holistic wellness services provided by the Colonial Health Center to make sure your student is healthy.

4:45pm – 5:30pm             Community and Diversity on Campus (Lisner Auditorium)

Many offices on campus cultivate a caring community of Colonials – hear from the Multicultural Student Services Center, the Center for Student Engagement, the Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service, and others about ways for your student to get involved and create their own #onlyatGW experience.

4:45pm – 5:30pm             Health & Wellness (Marvin Center Betts Theatre)

Family Q&A Panels:

*All family Q&A panels will take place in the School of Media and Public Affairs, Room B07

Family Q&A panels will be offered three times: 2:45pm – 3:30pm, 3:45pm – 4:30pm, and 4:45pm – 5:30pm.  Please select the panel that best fits your schedule.

Hear from current GW families about their experiences, the transition from high school to college, and learn some tips on being involved in the Colonial community.

Campus Services Fair:

Join us in the Marvin Center Great Hall (1st Floor) to learn about university departments and community resources available to support your student.

Departments and resource representatives will be available from 2:30pm – 5:30pm.
