Fact or Fiction: CI is a relaxing multiday getaway that starts with a leisurely check-in mid-day and ends by 6 pm daily so that you can explore the city on your own.
Fiction! We hope you're up for an exciting few days of pure GW action! Our summer and fall CI sessions run 2.5 days, and our spring session runs for 1 day. In the summer, CI check-in begins at 11:00 a.m. on Day 1 and ends around 12:30 p.m. on Day 3. From program sessions to social events, there are activities day and night.
Fact or Fiction: It doesn't matter if I skip CI events.
Fiction! Although there is no penalty for missing CI events, you will truly miss out on the complete CI experience by not attending the scheduled programming. CI is about getting to know the GW community and your fellow classmates. Students who have missed or skipped CI regret not getting a chance to share in this exciting student experience...you only get the CI experience once in a lifetime!
Fact or Fiction: Student housing is provided during CI.
Fact! During the summer, for CI sessions 1-4 students will stay in first-year residence halls. Parents and siblings stay in a nearby hotel of their choice. For Fall CI and Spring CI, students will move directly into academic-year residence hall assignments.
Fact or Fiction: I must bring my own laptop for course registration on Day 3 of CI.
Fiction! If you do not have a laptop, we will have computers available for you during the course registration process on Day 3 of CI 1-4. However, if you do have a laptop, we recommend bringing it to ensure you are able to register right at the beginning of the registration time block. Please note the transfer students are able to register for courses as soon as they have deposited. International freshmen attending Fall CI will select a class registration date when registering for CI.
