New Student Orientation

Mission: Colonial Inauguration is an undergraduate orientation program, which exists to facilitate the successful transition and integration of new students and families into the GW community.

Colonial Inauguration is your first opportunity to experience GW as a student-- from academic advising and faculty engagement, to learning how to get involved on campus. With CI’s focus on academic planning, you will have an opportunity to meet with advisors and faculty and learn about your academic opportunities and responsibilities, as well as discuss academic plans, majors, minors, and fields of study.

Beyond your academic orientation, the Colonial Cabinet has organized events that will introduce you to campus and community life, student activities around GW, and the diverse resources in and around Washington, DC that make this university so unique. Making lifelong friends, seizing the Colonial spirit, exploring campus and alumni resources and learning about student organizations are the experiences that you will have at CI. You will also begin to grasp the opportunities and responsibilities that come with being a member of the GW community. By the time CI is over, we hope to have answered many of your questions about your transition to the university and we hope that you are excited to return to GW in the fall.
